Community Earth Councils

Wednesday, November 12, 2008
7:00-9:30 pm

The Great Hall, Coffman Union, University of Minnesota

For the good of the Earth…
Join us! Help launch Community Earth Councils (CEC), a global intergenerational movement to address environmental and social issues at the local level. CECs are groups of 8-20 people who meet regularly to study and practice the arts of mentorship, group facilitation, and social entrepreneurship. Each CEC is uniquely created by its members, but every Community Earth Council helps young and old find inspiration, meaning, and purpose.

The Symposium
Led by Purpose Project Guild facilitators, the goals of the symposium are for participants to:

  • confront the facts of where we are, socially and environmentally;
  • be encouraged by the groundswell of committed energy emerging in society;
  • be empowered to take personal and community action.

The Symposium will help participants connect in several ways, including by geographic location, affinity, and issues of particular interest and concern. Participants will be encouraged and equipped to form a Community Earth Council in their neighbor-hood, on their campus, or through their organization. Opportunities to become CEC facilitators and mentors will be discussed.

As a leader, organizer, and concerned citizen, you are needed. Join us. Help facilitate the emerging Community Earth Council movement. Discover the depth of your personal commitment. Connect with neighbors and others similarly motivated. Become a force for environmental and social healing.
