Come to the Festival from 9 AM to 2 PM with a special
Run for the Monarch at 8 AM.
Fun and education for the whole family! 

The 2nd Minneapolis Monarch Festival celebrates the Monarch’s amazing 2,300 mile trip from Minnesota to Mexico.  Come have fun while learning more about the monarch butterfly and what we can do to preserve this beautiful species.

Featured activities are:

Run for the Monarch 5K:  Proceeds benefit monarch butterfly habitat in Minneapolis parks and the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere in the state of Michoacan, Mexcio.

Kids Butterfly Run with Costumes

Release of Tagged Monarchs:  Watch the UMN’s Monarch Lab staff release hundreds of new butterflies so they can begin their journey to Mexico

Make a Milkweed Mudball to Support Monarch’s Habitat:  A chance to dig in the mud and help make important food for the Monarch.

Games for Children and Families:  Play Monarch Bingo and join the Migration Passport Game.

Monarch Art.  Create a mandala on behalf of the Monarch.

Native Butterfly Plants for Sale:  Your backyard  can add to the Monarch’s habitat.

Enjoy Mexican and American Food for All
